Knives Out (2019) Review

A breezy feature-length who-dunnit channeling old school Christie with more modern sensibilities, with a sparkling cast taking some big swings at their often outsized characters. Foghorn-Leghorn as Detective practically dabs at his forehead with a silk hanky as he barbeque-grills a crowded grate of upper-crust nepo-babies. The intentional humor lands with a little bit of a thud, but between this and THJ, perhaps I simply don't vibe with Rian Johnson's sense of humor.
The choice to show you exactly who killed the dead man at the center of the story half-way through the film is inspired, as you know what you've been shown can't be the whole story, but you can't quite piece together why until later on. Someone should make a classic detective movie like this every year.
